Frequently Asked Questions

Q. I have more than 2 preferred languages to exchange. Can I apply for more than one language?

A. Yes, you can apply for more than one language. Please write as much as you want on the online application form.

Q. What can I expect from my language exchange partner?

A. "Language Exchange Program" is very flexible – You and your partner decide what to do together, when and where to meet up. But remember, your partner is not a language teacher. If you prefer to study the language seriously, we ask you to go to a language school.

Q. Are there any places KIO provides to us?

A. We can provide a room on the B1 floor of Environmental Studies Building to you for the purpose of exchanging languages. Please email KIO to check the availability of the room, and apply for reservations by 5pm of the day before you use .

Q. Who can I contact about "Language Exchange Program"?

If you feel you need our assistance, please contact: kio.admatgs.mail.u-tokyo.ac.jp

Q. Should I report how things are going with my language exchange partner to KIO afterward?

A. We hope so! We request all participants to submit a progress report to us within 3 months after the first meeting day in order to know how things are going with your language exchange partner. To improve our service, we also need your feedback and requests about this program.
