Status of residence for employment in the field of education

There are two types of status when you are working in the field of education.


Professor You will get “Professor” status if you are working at a university, junior college, college of technology (kotosenmongakko), or other equivalent educational institutions. Even if your status in the institution is not professor but associate professor, lecturer or assistant professor, you will get “Professor” status nevertheless. You will also get this status when you make your living by teaching at universities etc. as a part-time lecturer.
Instructor The teachers/ instructors working for advanced vocational schools (senshugakko), high schools, and language schools etc.
