Some international students at the University of Tokyo accompany their spouses or families to Japan. If they get accustomed to living in Japan, international students can concentrate on study and to lead full life.


  1. Supports by International Center
    International Center organizes to support Japanese language study and FACE program in which international student’s spouses can participate. Also International Advising Room provides advice to international student’s spouses.
  2. Supports by each graduate school and major
    Some Graduate Schools or majors may provide their own Japanese language courses. In general, only international students attached to said Graduate Schools or majors will be admitted, but parts of some courses may be open to their spouses. For details, please inquire at the office of the relevant Graduate School or major.
  3. Supports by general public and organizations
    Some wards or cities provide advice and Japanese language supports to international student’s spouses. Some local governments themselves organize Japanese language courses and volunteer citizens are in full activity like supports of Japanese language study. Please see websites below.
